Adware

Adware is software that is downloaded on to your computer that sends your personal information to online advertisers. Adware is usually bundled into a package with other programs so computer users do not know it is there. Unlike Malware, Adware is usually downloaded with your permission in end license agreements.

Adware is usually seen by the programmer as a way to recover programming development costs, and in some cases it may allow the program to be provided to the user free of charge or at a reduced price.

Adware is not harmful but it does compromise your privacy and the pop-ups that appear on your screen can be annoying. The occurrence of pop-ups on your computer is also a clear indication that Adware is present.

Some types of adware can be classified as privacy-invasive software as it installs software on to your PC without your permission. Some Adware can add links to your favourites and install icons on your desktop. Your computer can become riddled with pop-up ads and can slow down dramatically as a result.

It is important to read through all end-user agreements as well as to download Adware removal software so as to prevent Adware from becoming a problem.

Malware, Spyware, Adware or Trojan- What's the fuss?

By: Austin Akalanze
Introduction:
Very often, Malware is spoken of as viruses, Trojans, diallers, Adware and Spyware. Being knowledgeable about how to diagnose a service running as a Malware is an important part of fighting this nuisance. The problem of Malware is getting worse by the day, and it is not just for funny anymore. Fighting Malware is a daunting task. This is because root kit-shielded Malware is installed in the system. This makes it difficult for traditional antivirus scanning applications to see the malicious program. Also, many new Malware codes are being written every day. As a result, the only good solution to Malware sometimes, is a complete Operating System reinstall.

Adware Explained

By Oliver Turner
Adware is another potential threat to your computer if you access the Internet. Adware is free software that is installed onto your computer with your permission and can be in the form of software that is used to automatically fill in web forms. In exchange for carrying out this task the installed Adware will track your Internet activity and show you targeted advertisements. It should be noted that people who use Adware have legally opted into this. This is usually done in the fine print of an end user license agreement that you must accept in order to download specific software applications.
